Jimmy Wayne Whaley, 77, of Old Fort, passed away on December 5, 2021. He was born on Oct. 13, 1944 to the late Herbert and Willie Whaley. Wayne was a devoted man of God and loved his family. He was a gifted gardener and woodworker, and known by many as a “Jack of All Trades.” He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Whaley.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 58 years, Elaine Whaley; daughters, Karen Kidwell (Tim) and Sheila Hood (James); siblings, Beverly Craig (Mack), Mike Whaley (Elaine), Carolyn Padgett (Ira), Linda Jones, Angie Pierce (Kenny) and Darrell Whaley (Helen); grandchildren, Cheyenne Kidwell, Landon Kidwell and Ricky Pierce; and great-granddaughter, Annika Morrison.
Wayne’s family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9 at Calvary Baptist Church, 13619 GA 225 Crandall, Ga., with a celebration of life service to follow at 6 p.m. He will be laid to rest on Friday, Dec. 10 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at 10 a.m.
