Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints Hosts Friend-To-Friend Event

Wednesday, February 10, 2021 - by Phil Smartt

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a friend-to-friend worldwide broadcast for children and parents, including in the greater Chattanooga area, on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 1 p.m.

Church President Russell M. Nelson will speak, as will Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and members of the Primary General Presidency.  Primary is for children 18 months to 11 years.

Primary General President Joy D. Jones said, “I am so excited for the children to experience this special event.  I hope they will feel valued, needed and loved by Jesus and Heavenly Father.”

During this 40-minute event, children will sing together and learn “how they can help like Jesus.”  A new app for children will also be announced “that will include digital coloring of Scripture Stories coloring books, Scripture Stories videos and music” (at https://www.thechurchnews.com/leaders-and-ministry/2021-02-08/friend-to-friend-primary-general-presidency-children-global-event-203510).

Everyone, far and wide, is invited to participate.

The event will be available to view at ChurchofJesusChrist.org, Youtube, BYUtv and elsewhere in English, Spanish, Portuguese and American Sign Language (ASL). In March, the event will be available in Cantonese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Russian, Cebuano and Tagalog.

For the event, children are encouraged to have “a piece of paper, drawing utensils and scriptures nearby.” The event is the first of its kind but following Jesus has and always will be the Way.  “Jesus is the example for young and old,” local officials said. “As we strive to follow Jesus by serving others, we can connect with each other and with heaven.  Please join us for this special event and celebrate The Lord.”

After the initial broadcast, the Friend-to-Friend event will be available for viewing any time at face2face.ChurchofJesusChrist.org or the Latter-day Saints Channel.  The Friend magazine for children, published in 148 countries and in 48 different languages, is also available for viewing at ChurchofJesusChrist.org/friend

Roy Exum: My Garden In March

It was about midnight last night, just at the point we flip a page on the calendar, when the month of March arrived in the middle of a thunderstorm. You bet, just as it has for ages, this month arrives like a lion and eases out 31 days from now as a lamb. I could hardly mind the thunder; I am so glad to see the arrival of spring and the promise my flowers will awake from their winter’s ... (click for more)
