The Chattanooga Symphony and Orchestra will present P.D.Q. Bach, as part of the First Horizon Foundation Instrumental Series, on March 6 at 3 and 7 p.m. and March 7 at 3 p.m. The performance will be held at New City Fellowship.
The program will include Bloch - Concerto Grosso No.1, for Piano & Strings; P.D.Q. Bach - Musical Sacrifice; and Valerie Coleman - Portraits Of Josephine: Suite For Wind Quintet.
P.D.Q Bach, the fictional relative of Johann Sebastian Bach and alter ego of contemporary composer Peter Schickele, responds to Bach’s Musical Offering with his own Musical Sacrifice. The program will also feature Bloch’s Concerto Grosso No. 1, a modern take on Baroque stylings, and contemporary American composer and flutist Valerie Coleman's Portraits of Josephine.
