Loved To Travel, Read, And Spend Time With Her Grandchildren

Marjorie E. “Marge” Gilley of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away on Monday April 5, 2021. 

After a lengthy stay at a skilled nursing facility she was able to spend the last few months at her own home with family.  Marjorie was born June 21, 1948, in Fort Scott, Ks. She met Harold Gilley in Hutchinson, Ks., and then married and moved to Anaheim, Ca., then Mishawaka, In., before settling in Chattanooga. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Donald E. Lord and Vercie E. Lord, and brother Ronald E. Lord. 

Surviving is her sister, Carolyn Porter and sister-in-law, Sheryl Lord.  She has left behind a daughter and son-in-law, Marlo and Lee Lowry and a son, Benjamin Gilley; grandchildren, Shandi and Allan Johns and Jessica Chambers; grandsons, Trey Birchfield and Jason Gilley; great-grandchildren, Jada and Lexi Chambers, Serena and Quinton Johns; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  

As a homemaker, Marge raised her family volunteering at their schools and supporting their activities.  She loved cooking, and playing with her grandkids and providing the joy of her pool to be shared by all. She was the fun aunt.  Marge loved travel, she had visited nearly every state in the U.S., as well as Israel. She also loved going to Disney, she loved all things pretty and colorful, such as flowers, butterflies and birds. She was an avid reader, loved music and dance. She will be remembered by all who knew her.

There will be a private memorial on Sunday, April 11.
