Lee University Director of Golf John Maupin has announced the signing of transfer Dalton Chuba to the 2021 class.
“Dalton is a great add for our program,” said Maupin. His commitment to golf is evident, and it’s his own hard work that has brought this opportunity about. In Dalton, we have someone that is improving at a rapid rate and who’s game is very much trending in the right direction. We’ve had some players that competed with Dalton this summer and felt strongly that he would be a great add to our team.
After spending some time with him and his family on his visit I don’t have any doubts that he will bring a lot of value to our team and help us to achieve our team goals. I think his experience playing under Coach Moseley at Cleveland State will also have him well prepared to step in and compete for us. He’s had a very productive summer and I’m really looking forward to coaching him beginning this fall.”
Dalton graduated from Baylor in Spring 2020. He then took a gap year at a golf academy in Orlando and followed that up with a semester at Cleveland State this spring.
“When Coach Maupin called and asked me to come on a visit, I ultimately knew there was a really good chance I would end up at Lee,” said Chuba. The golf team is really good and is always super competitive. Coach Maupin is serious about building the best program he can and I am all about being the best I can be and winning. Lee has a great atmosphere amongst the students and reminds me a lot about my high school. I want to grow my faith more and become closer with God and that is another reason I chose Lee University.”
This summer he recorded top 10 finishes at the Chattanooga Men’s Metro and the Signal Mountain Invitational. He has also qualified for the Tennessee State Match Play and the Tennessee State Amateur.
