George Holton
George Montague Holton, Jr., 81, of Signal Mountain, died on Monday, August 9, 2021.
He was born on Nov. 14, 1939, in New Bern, North Carolina to the late George M. Holton, Sr. and Wilma Holton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Marilyn Stroud Holton, son, George Montague Holton, III, siblings, Fred Holton and Larue Holton Harris.
Mr. Holton loved golf, sailing, poker, and especially spending time with his family and granddogs. He was a great father and best friend. He was a graduate of NC State University with a degree in nuclear engineering. Mr. Holton worked for Westinghouse in Monroeville, PA before moving to Signal Mountain in 1980, where he worked for TVA until his retirement. He enjoyed vacationing at Cape Hatteras and Panama City Beach. He was a member of the Chattanooga Sail and Power Squadron. He was an avid lover of astronomy and navigation.
Survivors include his daughter, Pam Trotter, nieces and nephews, David Harris, Debbie Early, Fred Holton, Jr., Tommy Stroud, and Vickie Stroud Robinson, and sister-in-law, Brenda Stroud.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
