Notre Dame Volleyball Sweeps Silverdale

Lady Irish Take Sets By 25-19, 25-23, 25-14

Notre Dame picked up an important District road victory at the brand new Silverdale Center. The win moves them to 5-0 in the District and gives them a 2 game cushion in the loss column over their nearest rival.

The first saw Notre Dame jump out to an early lead behind the hitting of Regan Wolf and Maggie Fillauer. The lead was stretched to as many as nine points by a five point service run by Madelie Solis, including one of her two aces on the night. The Irish would cruise to a 25-19 first set victory.

The second set was a different story.
Silverdale got off to a good start, sparked by great defense from their libero Casey Neal. The lead blossomed to 6 points and the Seahawks looked in command 16-10. Notre Dame started to scratch their way back in with a stretch that included a four point service run by Maggie Clotfelter that included 2 of her 3 aces on the night, great defense by libero Riley McCormick and 3 of Sam Crisp's 8 kills. Three straight service points by McCormick gave the Irish a 25-23 game win and a 2-0 lead.

The huge comeback carried over into game three, with Notre Dame jumping out to a 14-2 lead and never looking back. Mary Fillauer had another great night at setter for the Irish, stuffing the stat sheet with 33 assists, 3 kills, 2 aces and a block.

Twenty of the Irish's 40 kills were from the outside duo of Maggie Fillauer (12) and Sam Crisp (8). The pair only had 6 kills in the first meeting between Notre Dame and Silverdale, and it was a point of focus in the Notre Dame practices leading up to the match.

According to Notre Dame head coach Dan Clotfelder,  "It is always tough to go on the road and win District matches, so we are happy with the win. I thought our outside hitters did and great job tonight, with 20 kills and only 3 hitting errors. The two game margin in District standings is nice to have, but we face second place Grace on Thursday and they are playing great volleyball. We have to prepare well for them and play another great match."
