CSO Opens New Season On Thursday Night; Proof Of Vaccination Required In Order To Attend

  • Monday, September 20, 2021

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will open the 21/22 season on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Auditorium with a full orchestral performance in its Barnett & Company Masterworks Series.

The evening will feature works from across the globe, including The StarSpangled Banner and Mexican classical composer Arturo Márquez’s popular Danzon No. 2, and a performance of George Walker’s Lyric for Strings in memory of the community members we have lost to COVID-19.

“I am beyond thrilled to be back on the podium with the CSO in full force,” says Kayoko Dan, CSO Music Director. “We’ll be re-introducing the CSO to the Chattanooga community by highlighting our musicians on works like Marquez’s Danzon No. 2 and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol, which both prominently feature many different instruments with marvelous solos. We will also perform a work for strings only, Walker’s beautiful and reflective Lyric for Strings, a brass ensemble work by Andrew Ardizzoia called Ubi Caritas, and Faure’s Pavane, which beautifully features many woodwind instruments.”

To ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all audience members and staff, new COVID-19 guidelines have been put in place. Attendees will need to present proof of at least first vaccination shot or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the performance to enter the venue. Masks must also be worn over the nose and mouth throughout the duration of the concert. More details on health and safety measures are available at chattanoogasymphony.org/concert-health-safety.

Tickets and subscriptions for the 21/22 season can be purchased at www.chattanoogasymphony.org, by calling 423.267.8583, or in-person at the CSO Box Office at 736 Georgia Ave, Suite 101.

The box office is currently opened for limited hours Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
