To celebrate veterans, the Vascular Group of University Surgical Associates is offering a free vascular screening for anyone 50 and older who has served in the armed forces.
"If you or a loved one are active or retired military and may be at risk for vascular disease, this screening can detect an often 'silent' disease which can lead to strokes or aneurysms," officials said.
The free screening will check for three types of vascular disease: carotid artery disease, peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).
“We appreciate all that veterans have done for our country,” said Michael S. Greer, M.D., vascular surgeon with USA. “Our hope is to prevent strokes and potentially deadly issues by detecting problems that are frequently silent or asymptomatic and rooted in vascular disease.”
The free, 15-minute screenings will take place throughout November at the following USA Vascular Diagnostic Services locations:
• USA Surgical Specialties Building (downtown Chattanooga): 2108 E. 3rd St., Chattanooga, Tn. 37404;
• USA Cleveland: 2253 Chambliss Ave. NW, Suite 401, Cleveland, Tn. 37311;
• USA North Georgia: 4700 Battlefield Pkwy., Suite 210, Ringgold, Ga. 30736;
• USA Dayton: 301 White Oak Road, Suite 100, Dayton, Tn. 37321; and
• USA Crossville: 1645 S. Main St., Suite 101, Crossville, Tn. 38555.
