Lewis Grizzard
Since he died at the early age of 47 in 1994 a new generation of readers may not be familiar with the humor and often controversial content of the 25 books and weekly columns in 450 syndicated newspapers authored by Lewis Grizzard, Jr.
A proud native of Moreland, Georgia the “Dawgs from Athens,” and the South he possessed the unique ability to produce gut busting laughter on an endless range of topics and individuals.
With permission of the ownership, I have agreed to discuss some of his writings periodically and add my often-non-humor to his ability to entertain the readers along the lines of Jerry Clower, Mark Twain, Rodney Dangerfield, David Chappelle, and Jeff Foxworthy.
(Hopefully Lewis’ humor will produce some laughs in today’s crazy world. I will limit my personal remarks so as not to detract from his genius!)
