Morris, Hazel Elizabeth "Granny" (Cleveland)

Hazel Elizabeth (Granny) Morris, 97, of Cleveland, passed away, Thursday, February 24, 2022 at her home. Granny was a homemaker and loved going to auctions and yard sales. She loved baking, especially her apple stack cakes, for her family every Christmas. Being grandmother of 61 grandchildren, that must have been a tall apple stack cake.

She was preceded in death by parents, Hattie and Charlie Parks; sister, Anna Mae Bates; husband, Joe Morris; brother, Howard Parks; son, Charles Morris; grandson, Danny Morris.

Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Anna Lee (Benny) Gates, of Cleveland; son, Jerry Morris, of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Lisa Morris, of Ocoee; five grandchildren, Ken Maxwell, Greg Maxwell, Sandy Collins, Jeri Ann (Jamie) Moody and Mari Beth (Miguel) Jimenez; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28 at Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m in the chapel of the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Ricky Vaughn. Interment will follow in Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery, with Bo Maxwell, Ken Maxwell, Bryan Maxwell, Nathan Patterson, Nicholas Haddock, Shawn Maxwell and Joseph Maxwell serving as pallbearers.
