Native Of Chattanooga Was Longtime Children's Director At Her Church

Doris Anne Green, 86, of Cooper City, Florida, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Friday, April 8, 2022. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Green was a 1954 Chattanooga High School graduate. She also attended and graduated from Baptist Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Memphis, TN, 1954-1957.

She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was the children’s director at her church for many years and enjoyed teaching preschool-aged children about Jesus. She loved gardening, cooking, ballroom dancing, and traveling.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Edwin R. Green, Cooper City, FL.

Her brothers, Haydon Adams Keown and James Gordon Keown (Linda), both of Chattanooga, TN.

Her three children, Judith Anne de Rose (Pete), Cooper City, FL; Gerald Winston Davis, Jacksonville, FL; Brian Walter Davis (Rachel), Palm Beach Gardens, FL; along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ed’s children, Julie Green Cargile (Tim), Douglasville, GA; Eric Robert Green, IN.

Her seven grandchildren, Joshua Brian de Rose (Heather), Deltona, FL; Matthew Paul de Rose (Maryelle), Coral Springs, FL; Ethan Parker de Rose, Marquette, MI; Shelby Ryan Davis, St. Petersburg, FL; Troy Joseph Cargile, Jake Thomas Cargile, Anna Belle Cargile, all of Douglasville, GA.

Her five great-grandchildren, Hayden Liam de Rose, Logan Andrew de Rose, Mia Joy de Rose, Jeremiah Matthew Vicente de Rose, and Haven Grace de Rose.

Preceded in death by her mother, Mary Virginia Robinson of Chattanooga, TN, and her grandparents, Page & Gertrude Parker of Monteagle, TN.

The family will receive friends at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421, on Friday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the funeral service to follow.

Burial will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Her son-in-law, Manuel Peter “Pete” de Rose III, will officiate the service.
