The International Federation of Libraries Association and Institutions and digital news source PressReader awarded Chattanooga Public Library third place in its International Marketing Awards for the success and creativity of CPL’s “Here We Grow” awareness campaign.
Now in its 19th year, the Marketing Awards recognize “organizations that implement creative, results-oriented marketing projects or campaigns.” This year’s awards went to libraries all over the world, with only two in the United States making into the top 10. CPL took third place, after Yarra Libraries (Australia) and Peking University Elementary School Library (China).\
CPL’s “Here We Grow” campaign, launched February 2021, featured videos and billboards designed by Humanaut, a local creative agency founded by David Littlejohn and Andrew Clark. Focused on informing the community of what CPL offered even during the pandemic, the campaign helped the library bring in 143 percent new patrons in 2021 (compared to 2020).
“We are beyond thrilled to receive this award,” says CPL Executive Director Corinne Hill. “Libraries around the world are constantly changing what we mean to our communities, so to be recognized among them is a huge honor! I’m proud of our Public Relations department for their creation, planning and implementation of a successful campaign.”
