Wanda Brotherton Slack of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, died on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at a hospital located in Texas surrounded by family. She was 90. 

Wanda was a lifelong resident of Fort Oglethorpe and Rossville areas until moving to Arlington, Tx., to live with her daughter. She was a member of Fort Oglethorpe Baptist Church and its Lydia Sunday School class.  Wanda graduated from Rossville High School in 1948 and was employed at Hamilton National Bank for numerous years as a teller until she retired.  She was born July 17, 1931, in Rossville, Georgia, a daughter of the late Robbie Carlock Brotherton and J. Harvey Brotherton, Sr.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, William Ransom Slack, Sr., and one great-grandson River Malachi Menard.  

Wanda is survived by her brother James-Harvey Brotherton, Jr., Maitland, Fl., two sons, William Ransom Slack, Jr., (Pam) Lafayette, La., Travis Slack, Rossville, Ga., and one daughter Robbie Slack Guilbeau, (Merlin) Arlington, Tx. One granddaughter, Betsy Slack Menard, (Rickey) and three great-grandchildren, Bella, Fletcher and Barrett of Lafayette, La.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Heritage Funeral Home located at 3239 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason Thomas officiating. 

Burial will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
