The City of Dayton Library Board honored two of its members for service on the board.
Tom Davis has been on the board for 30 years and JoAnn Cowden for 37 years. During that time, Mr. Davis has served as chairman and Ms. Cowden has served as secretary.
Mayor Hurley Marsh and City Manager Tommy Solomon were on hand at the Clyde W. Roddy Library to present plaques to the board members and thank them for their service. Mr. Solomon made mention that it would be nice to have the members stay on, but due to changes in state regulations, board members can now only serve two continuous terms.
Ms. Cowden told the board members and audience present that she considered it an honor and pleasure to serve on the board to make sure the citizens of Dayton had a nice, resourceful library to go to.
During the Summer, the Library, on 1st Avenue next to City Hall, is having a program of
"Oceans of Possibilities" which began June 3 and goes through July 1, with a closing ceremony from 10 a.m.-noon at Centennial Park.
