Find Those Who Listen

  • Saturday, June 25, 2022

Something I have learned as a 14-year-old in politics is that you can sit at your kitchen table and call and email congressmen and senators but very few will listen. I have learned those that do listen are at the local and state level. All change is local.

In the Hamilton County May 2022 primary, 48,848 people voted, and in the 2021 Chattanooga City election 28,473 people voted. We think in this day in time, posting and commenting is how we can get change. I hate to say it, but a Facebook post and tweet are both pretty ineffective. If you want change, start holding your local leaders and representatives accountable.

In November of 2020, 172,356 people voted in Hamilton County; however, we saw an extremely low turnout in our recent local county primary that determined many of our local leaders including commissioners, judges, school board representatives, and party nominees for the open seat of county mayor.  If we want so much change, you all need to vote in August and continue to fight for your beliefs leading up to the midterms.
