Philip Aron Marsteller, Sr., 65, of Pikeville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at his home.

He was born in Youngstown, OH, on October 22, 1956, the son of missionary parents, Paul Andrew Marsteller and Mary (Wiggins) Marsteller. He was preceded in death by his dad. 

Phil moved to Pikeville in 2020 from Scottsdale, AZ. He received his bachelor’s degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida and his master’s degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona. He served his country in the US Army as a member of the Special Forces and later as a helicopter pilot for the 82nd Airborne. 

Phil was the founder of Marsteller International of Texas that supplied airplanes and helicopters all over the world and then later was the owner and operator of a sport fishing operation in Brazil. He loved flying private single-engine and multi-engine planes and helicopters. He especially loved his family and being a father and grandfather. He was also an avid conservationist of Amazon wildlife and forestry. He and his wife were members of Grace Bible Church in Dayton. 

Phil is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ruth (Reis) Marsteller of Pikeville; his five sons, Philip Marsteller, Jr. of Dallas, TX, Justin Marsteller of Phoenix, AZ, Andrew (Lisa) Marsteller of Saline, MI, and Trevor (Brittani) Marsteller and Simon Marsteller, both of Dallas, TX; his daughter, Rebecca Marsteller of New York City, NY; his mother, Mary Marsteller of Dayton; and his four grandchildren, Abigail, Jacob, Ella, and Ashlyn Marsteller. 

Funeral services with military honors will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 12:00 noon at Grace Bible Church in Dayton with Pastor Jim Woychuk officiating. He will lie in state at the church one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Philip Marsteller to Grace Bible Church, 2809 Old Washington Hwy., Dayton, TN 37321 or a veteran’s group of your choice.
