The John Sevier Chapter of the Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution and ladies of the Daughters of the America Revolution conducted a ceremony Tuesday morning to honor the Revolutionary War service of Patriot Captain Robert Bean at his gravesite at the Bean-Roulston graveyard Marion County.
The ceremony featured retiring the old on site “Betsy Ross” flag and posting of a new flag, in addition to presenting a reading of the Patriot’s Service on the 242nd anniversary of his service in the Battle of Thicketty Fort, S.C.
Patriot Robert Bean was not only a veteran of the Revolutionary War but recognized as one of the early settlers of Marion County. Descendants of the patriot still reside in the general region.
DAR ladies participating in the ceremony included: Gayle Burrows, regent of the Chickamauga Chapter TNDAR, Trish Mullins, Christina Holmes and Sue Ison.
