Avid Outdoorsman Retired From Mueller Company After 23 Years

William Alan Cate, 78, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, departed his earthly home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on August 1, 2022.

He was an avid outdoorsman, loved Tennessee football, classic cars and spending time with his family and precious grandchildren.

He worked at Combustion Engineering for 14 years, retired from Mueller Co. after 23 years. He served his country in the US Army/TN National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Lawerence Cate, mother, Clara Letitia Cate, and sister, Judith Estelle Cate.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Cheryl; daughter, Amy (Marc) Nawy; son, Scott (Krissy) Cate; Grandchildren, Haley, Seth, Belle, Cole, Jase, Shane and Bri.

Many nieces, nephews, cousins also survive to cherish Alan’s memory.

Alan was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church for many years where he served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon.

Special thanks to Dr. Jason Kennedy and nurse Carol Tarafa for the compassion they showed to Alan and our family while in the CCU Unit at the CHI Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, in the funeral home chapel with Bro. David Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
