Three Covenant Athletes Named To Weekly Honors

  • Tuesday, October 3, 2023
The Collegiate Conference of the South announced Player of the Week awards on Monday and Tuesday with three Covenant student-athletes among those honored.

From Men's Soccer, Whitt Tisdale won Offensive Player of the Week and Daniel Wallis won Rookie of the Week. Ethan Saiki of the Men's Cross Country team was awarded Rookie of the Week.

Men's Soccer went 2-0 this week with a 3-1 win on the road at Birmingham-Southern and a 2-0 victory over LaGrange on Homecoming. Tisdale scored twice in just 20 minutes off the bench against BSC.
He followed that up with Covenant's second goal against LaGrange to ensure the win for the Scots. Tisdale also assisted the first goal in the Homecoming win as well.

Wallis, a freshman from Charlotte, was a key piece in defense in both of Covenant's wins. The defender helped on the attack, tallying an assist to one of Tisdale's goals in the BSC game. Against LaGrange he helped the Scots keep a clean sheet and hold their opponent to just three shots on goal.

Saiki placed fifth in the Mountainside Stride, hosted by Covenant at the Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center in Chattanooga. His time in the 8k was 27:18.7, a new personal record and he was the second-highest finisher for Covenant who placed second as a team. This is the third Rookie of the Week honor Saiki has picked up this fall.

Other Covenant student-athletes nominated for an award this week were Rachel Bartlett, Sarah Jennings, Jocelyn Gartman, and Josiah Mellott.
