Maclellan Foundation Thanks Community For Record-Breaking Grateful Gobbler

Over 5,000 Participated

The Maclellan Shelter for Homeless Families garnered over $270,000 in support from the 2023 Grateful Gobbler Walk held on Thanksgiving Day.

With Crown Automotive Group returning for the second year as naming sponsor, the walk had 5,000+ registered participants who walked, rolled, ran, or strolled their way through downtown Chattanooga.  The walk also attracted a record number of sponsors.

With 100 percent of funds raised to provide much needed respite to families experiencing homelessness, the Maclellan Shelter for Homeless Families is the only option for families to stay intact.  Having a place to stay allows parents to pursue employment to provide for families and is often the first step toward long-term sustainability.

Chris Maclellan with the Maclellan Foundation said, “Over the last 24 years, Chattanooga has come out on Thanksgiving morning to support families in need.  For many of us, it marks the beginning of a season of giving; however, for those experiencing homeless, the walk marks hope for the future of their family.  We are honored to play a role that encourages sustainability for our local families.”

Mr. Maclellan noted that next year will mark the 25th year of the Grateful Gobbler. “Next year will be an extremely important year as we note this important milestone.  We hope to break this year’s record with an even higher number of participants and sponsors.  We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Thanksgiving tradition in Chattanooga and look forward to 2024.”
