The Woodshop Listening Room in St. Elmo will host an evening of safe and harmless music guaranteed not to offend the sensibilities of Chattanooga’s older music fans on Thursday.
Aging local acts The Banshees and Alex the Band will perform the kind of music that seems untouched by the last four decades of pop culture. There will be electric guitars, acoustic guitars, and bass guitars. But there won’t be any of that annoying techno stuff, and certainly no hipping or hopping.
Both acts are fronted by old men who wake up early and value the importance of a good night’s sleep.
They can no longer rebound from the occasional late night out like they could in their 30’s. That’s why they plan on starting the music promptly at 8:00 and sending everyone home no later than 10:30.
The venue is intimate, smoke free, and out of respect for its residential neighbors, makes every effort to keep the music at a reasonable volume. Readers of the Chattanoogan will also be enticed by the promise of comfortable seating, though supplies are limited and available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Doors open at 7 p.m.
In addition to the pleasant musical offerings, guests will find all manner of sophisticated beers and wines for purchase at the bar. A friendly staff member will answer any questions and listen patiently to any personal anecdotes you wish to share. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or through presale on the Internet:
