U.S. Marine Veteran Held Long Career With Top Flight

Ernest Clinton Hampton passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 3, 2023, at the age of 62.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Anderson; father, Ernest Craw Sr.; and sisters, LaTawinia Anderson and Ernestine Wade.

He graduated from Howard High School, class of 1979, at the top of his class. After graduation in 1979, Ernest enlisted in the United States Marines Corps. He was very fond of and fascinated with numbers. He also worked as a dedicated machinist for Top Flight for 33 years. Ernest was a loving father, brother, and friend.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory, two loving daughters, Tiara Hampton of McDonough, Ga. and Erica Hampton of Chattanooga; his beloved ex-wife, Chewonna Fletcher of Chattanooga; sisters, Cynthia Hampton, Rosetta (Demetrius) Espey both of Chattanooga, Vanessa Hampton of North Courtland, Al., Valencia (Calvin) Lee, Hampton, Va., Jacqueline (Booker) Nunley, N.C.; brothers, Ernest C. Craw, Jr., David H. Craw, and John D. Craw, all of Chattanooga, Tn. Ernest was blessed with three grandchildren, Kourtney Parker, Noah Hampton, and Aubrey Morgan all of McDonough, Ga.; a host of uncles, namely, one who was very dear and close to his heart, Uncle Russell T. Hampton of Chattanooga; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thank you to his dear friends, Mom and Pop.

Public viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home.

An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423 622-9995.

Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery
