Former McCallie Swimmer Earns SEC Honor

Sam Powe, former McCallie Blue Tornado swimmer and current freshman at the University of Georgia, was named co-freshman of the week by the SEC office for his performance in the team's final dual home meet at Gabrielsen Natatorium, a victory over the number two ranked team in Division III, Emory University from Atlanta.

Mr. Powe earned his first collegiate victory in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 1:47.06, and also finished second in the 200 meter backstroke, swimming a 1:45 seconds flat.

The team is now preparing for the SEC Championships in College Station, Tx. from Feb. 14-18.
