Baseball/Softball Round-up: Friday, March 31st

BASEBALL

Walker Valley 8, Heritage 0

The Mustangs hung eight runs on the board in the first inning and won the two frame contest easily over Heritage. Landon Franklin had a grand slam to power the win.

McMinn Co. 18, East Hamilton 2

A nine run sixth inning capped a game that saw the Hurricanes fail to capture any traction at all against a dialed in McMinn Co. team.

Reese Frazier and Mason Roderick led the Cherokees with three hits each. Brooks Berry, Hunter McDonald and Grady Prince had two hits each for McMinn. Davis Whitmer was the bright spot in East Hamilton’s line-up, going three for three.

Grace 6, Oakwood Christian 3

The Golden Eagles weathered a three run rally in the bottom of the seventh to hold off Oakwood.

Strong Redd led Grace at the plate, going three for four with three RBIs. Caleb Powell and Kennedy Brewer had two hits each for the Eagles.

Rhea Co. 5, Soddy Daisy 4

Rhea Co. survived a sixth inning comeback by the Trojans to pick up the win.

Baylor 12, Hammond School (SC) 2

The Red Raiders went on the road and crushed Hammond. Amari Jefferson, Champ Hampton, Tomas Valincius and Mack Whitcomb all had two hits each for Baylor. Hampton had a double and a home run, while Valincius and Whitcomb homered.

Henry Allen went the distance on the hill for the win.

McCallie 12, Siegel 1

The Blue Tornado blew through Siegel in the Riverdale Classic with Zach Porter’s three hits leading the way. Hudson Calhoun and Nick Gibson had two hits apiece, while Bryce Sanders had a home run. Both Gibson’s hits were doubles.

SOFTBALL

Bledsoe Co. 3, CCS 0

The Lady Warriors’ Ella baker was just a bit stronger in a pitching duel with CCS’ Autumn Hughes and Bledsoe Co.’s bats rang a bit louder.

Both pitchers went the distance with Baker allowing four hits and striking out 11 in the shutout. Hughes gave up seven hits and struck out seven.

Ashlyn Young had two hits for the Lady Warriors, who plated two runs in the fourth and another in the sixth.

Cleveland 12, Ooltewah 2

Lily O’Bryan had three hits to lead Cleveland, while Landri Nelson had a double and triple; Ashley Allen had two hits and struck out eight in six innings pitched. Alyssa Williams had two hits for the Lady Owls.
