KZ-106 and the Cumulus family of stations invite the community to the second annual “Rock on at Kelly’s Adopt-a-Thon” to celebrate Kelly McCoy's passion for pets on Saturday, May 20 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Humane Educational Society. This annual event continues the legacy of Kelly’s Pet Project that has found homes for hundreds of dogs through a partnership with the HES.
The Humane Educational Society, at 4155 Randolph Road, will be offering free adoptions, with vendors, a pet portrait photo booth and food trucks, to celebrate a goal of 30 forever families.
The popular band “NO big deal” will be performing, with a live remote from the KZ-106 team.
Ms. McCoy was part of the fabric of Chattanooga during a radio career that spanned more than 35 years, following her years as an East Ridge Pioneer and Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneer. She began her radio career at Chattanooga’s first NewsRadio station, WZRA, before moving to WGOW-AM as promotions director for Classic Rock WFXS, and then to Classic Rock KZ-106, where she became the area’s #1 midday radio host for two decades.
Scott Chase, operations manager, Cumulus Chattanooga, said: “Kelly set the standard for music radio hosts in Chattanooga and her love of animals was contagious. We are honored to carry on her mission to support the Humane Educational Society, pets and their forever families.”
The event, sponsored by the Hemp House, will include pet and family-related vendors, live music, free give-away opportunities, free adoptions, food trucks and more. The show band, “NO big deal,” fronted by acoustic guitarist and vocalist Dennis Massengale and his team of Keith Mahan, Jimmy Smith and Ward Wilson, will have the crowd moving with their classic rock and Southern Blues sounds.
KZ-106 is a part of Cumulus Media Chattanooga, which also operates New Country 107.9, Talk Radio 102.3. and NewsRadio 1150 from 821 Pineville Road in Chattanooga. Cumulus Media operates 404 radio stations in 85 markets. For more information on this event, visit www.kz106.com.
