Chattanooga Community Activists Receive President's Lifetime Achievement Service Award

Chattanooga community activists received the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award on Saturday.

Officials said, “In 2003 George W. Bush created an executive order that created the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. The President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation was established to recognize the important contributions Americans of all ages are making within their communities through civic service and civic engagement.

"The recipients of this prestigious award made many contributions to their communities in Chattanooga and abroad.
This extraordinary dedication is a true testament of how one individual can make a difference in this great nation."

The event was held at the Historic Pineywood School in Alton Park.

Jacqueline Carmon, authorized and certified representative, presented the President’s Lifetime Achievement Service Award to the following humanitarians: Logan Taylor, Haley Breeden, Vida Tate, Regina Tate, Karen Clay, Stacy Kehoe, Erin Kelly, Ronald Harris, Theresa Turner, Willie McClendon, Pastor Brenda Benn, Dr. Elenora Woods, Representative Yusuf Hakeem, Captain Mickey McCamish, Dr. Everlena Holmes and Terrance Westfield (posthumously – received by Tammy Jones and Tim Westfield).

“I am honored to have witnessed the great contributions these individuals have made to our great
nation. This recognition is long overdue," said Ms. Carmon.

Dr. Everlena Holmes received the President’s Gold Medallion for over 70 years of service. The event was streamed live by WPTP 100.1 FM.
