Fairyland School will undergo a significant renovation project this summer that includes replacement of HVAC equipment, interior lighting and ceilings throughout the school.
This project will cost Walker County Schools an estimated $2.1 million and construction will begin on June 1. The contractors have seven weeks to complete the project and they will have multiple construction crews working during the day and in the evenings. The contractor will require outside space to be used for dumpsters and equipment, as well as additional space for staging the construction site at various times throughout the project.
Officials said, "Our hope is that residents will be able to continue using the playground, fields and track throughout the summer.
There may be times when FES/City facilities need to be temporarily closed during construction. We encourage you to walk to the school instead of driving to ensure that workers have priority parking. We also ask you to be mindful that parts of the outdoor facilities will be an active construction site throughout the summer. We ask that you stay away from all construction equipment and materials during this time to ensure the safety of everyone that uses our outdoor facilities. Lastly, the playground, fields and track will close at 11 p.m. in the evenings. Motorized vehicles and bikes are not allowed on the playground, walking track and fields.
"Thank you in advance for your adherence to the rules and regulations on both the City and FES property. Have a safe and wonderful summer."
