With the summer weeks in full swing and basketball season on the horizon, it's time to preview the Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball roster and its newcomers ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. Part II features graduate transfer, Tyler Millin.
Millin makes a short trip east to Chattanooga following a four-year career in Murfreesboro at Middle Tennessee. The seasoned 6-7 forward will be immediately eligible for the 2023-24 season and will carry one year of remaining eligibility.
Millin appeared in 113 games over his four-year career with the Blue Raiders which included 35 starts, all coming over the past two seasons.
He carries career averages of 4.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game while converting at a 39.6% clip from the field including a 50.0% mark from inside the arc.
"Tyler had a great four-year career at Middle and we are thrilled for him to be ending his career with us at Chattanooga," said head coach Dan Earl about the signing.
"He will bring size and athleticism to our forward position. He can shoot from the perimeter and drive the ball to the basket, while also being able to guard multiple positions. His versatility will be a great addition to our program."
Millin's top season came in 2021-22 in which he started 23 of 34 games during his junior season and notched career single-season bests, averaging 5.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest while shooting an efficient 44.0% from the floor. He tied career bests at the time with 12 points and eight rebounds in 27 minutes of floor time against Ole Miss on December 16, 2020.
Last year in 2022-23, Millin appeared in 30 games and averaged 4.0 points and 1.9 rebounds per game while accounting for four double-digit scoring efforts. His top scoring performance came in a win over UTEP on February 2 where he finished with 15 points after going 7-of-10 from the floor.
Millin's started his prep work before his collegiate career at The Skills Factory in Atlanta, the same prep school of current teammate Myles Che. Millin averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game during his time at TSF.
