Two new Asian-styled restaurants are coming to Chattanooga.
Volcano Korean BBQ and Hot Pot has opened a second location at 5621 Brainerd Road. The first, at 2011 Gunbarrel Road, opened in August 2022. Both are owned and operated by Qiaoliang Zhang and family.
Like the restaurant on Gunbarrel Road, the new location will have a full bar that will sell beer after the Chattanooga Beer Board approved a consumer permit for the business on Thursday morning.
Attack of the Tatsu is the newest restaurant that James Heeley will own in Chattanooga, once it opens. It will be at 818 Georgia Ave., Unit 818. Mr. Heeley also owns Unknown Caller on Cherry Street and Shady’s Corner on Cemetery Avenue, both with consumer beer licenses. This restaurant will have a bar specializing in Japanese Whisky and Sake, and the restaurant will specialize in Ramen and Tatsu using Japanese techniques and ingredients. Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. An October opening is planned.
Family Dollar, 3201 Wilcox Blvd., was approved for a carry-out beer license. Employees that sell beer all have nationally recognized TIPS training in beer sales and the store uses secret shoppers to ensure it is not sold to minors.
