Kenneth Edward Moore, 70, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at his Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia residence.

He was born on September 9, 1952, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Kenneth was educated in the Chattanooga School System and graduated from Chattanooga (City) High in 1970. He also attended Atlanta A&M University and Chattanooga State Community College. He was affectionately known as “Kenny”. Kenny started work at an early age, first at Leaders in downtown Chattanooga, where he was promoted to a retail buyer at the age of 19. Then he worked at Dupont Company before landing his passion and forever career in the mental health field. He worked over 50 years between Moccasin Bend Mental Health, Joe Johnson Mental Health, and Parkridge Valley Mental Health ultimately retiring from Moccasin Bend in 2017. Kenny was a very charismatic person who never met a stranger and always had a joke up his sleeve. He was known as the comedian of the family and was notorious for giving nicknames that became the new name for that individual. He had a thirst for knowledge and was an avid reader, a true life-long learner. Kenny enjoyed all kinds of sports, music, documentaries, but most of all he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence E. Hammond Berry and Hammond Moore, Jr.; stepfather, George Berry, Jr.; sisters, Wilma Deane Moore Akridge and Fannie Mae Moore Burwell; brothers, Alfred Kelly Crutcher and Larry Earl Moore; nephew, Vincent Akridge, Sr.; great-grandson, Cryson Damone Lovell Lawrence.

His precious memories will be cherished by his loving children, Kendrea C. Moore of Chattanooga, Tamekia J. (Kevin) Rogers, Ambria S. Moore, both of Atlanta, GA, and K. Brian (Danielle) Moore of Mt, Juliet, TN; nine beautiful grandchildren, Patra Lawence, Ebony Bentley, Khalia Carter, all of Chattanooga, Damauri Garner of Columbus, OH, Kaden Rogers, Kaitlyn Rogers and Karsyn Rogers, all of Atlanta, Elizabeth Moore, and Sophie Moore, both Mt. Julliet; two great-grandchildren, Za’Ryiah Bentley and Kensleigh Fleming, both of Chattanooga, sisters, Carolyn Dandy and Rosemary (Cleophus) Heard, both of Chattanooga; brothers, Charles (Rebell) Moore of Decatur, AL and Josephine Crutcher of Huntsville, AL; uncles, Eugene (Sylvia) Hammond of Reynoldsburg, OH and Rev. Carlisle (Mary) Hammond of Huntsville; aunts, Geneva Hammonds of Huntsville and Fontaine Moore of Rossville, GA; devoted nephew, Carbby "Pop" (Vera) Burwell, Jr. of Huntsville; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends who cherish his memories.

Kenneth will lie in state on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jefferey Jefferson as the eulogist.

Burial will be on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. in Highland Memorial Gardens.
