The new owners of Merv’s at 713 Mountain Creek Road were approved on Thursday to sell beer at their restaurant. They are Alexis Williams and Laiken Williams, whose grandmother started the restaurant in 1977.

The business was passed down to her daughter and now will be operated by the third generation of the family.

The Beer Board was told, “We’ll keep doing what we’ve always done - serving cheeseburgers and fries.”

The restaurant had a beer license in the past, but a change in ownership triggers the need for a new permit. The business also has a TABC license to sell liquor.

Hours are from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
