The Covenant College women's soccer team took on Asbury on the road looking to bounce back from a midweek loss to Maryville. Behind a strong defense, the Scots did just that, defeating the Eagles 1-0.

Rachel Wall delivered the winning goal in the 59th minute as she dribbled around the keeper before sending her shot in on the left side of the net. Asbury had a pair of corner kicks in the 66th, 68th minute, and 73rd minute, but were unable to get a shot off of any of the set pieces The Scots kept looking for a second goal as Wall and AnnaLi Weekley each had shots in the final 10 minutes.

Looking to see out the result, the Covenant defense remained strong, not allowing a Asbury shot in the final 23 minutes of the match.

Covenant moves to 6-3 all-time against Asbury. The Scots outshot the Eagles 11-9, but Asbury had a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal. Kickasola totaled five saves.  Each team committed six fouls and had three corner kicks.

The Scots take on Sewanee on Tuesday night on the road.
