County Health Department To Participate In Statewide “Fight Flu TN” Initiative Oct. 15

The Hamilton County Health Department will participate in the statewide “Fight Flu TN” initiative by offering free flu shots to anyone six months and older on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at La Paz Chattanooga and all Health Department Clinics. 
 
Details:
• No appointment is needed.  
• No insurance is required.
• Adults 18+ and children ages six months and older may participate.             
• Children’s vaccines are available at all flu vaccination event sites.
• All locations are park and walk-up sites.
• ONLY FREE THIS DAY – while supplies last.
• Bilingual staff & an ASL interpreter will be on site(s).

If a minor is being vaccinated, a parent or legal guardian must be present at the appointment and bring a current, valid photo ID. If you are a legal guardian, bring proof of guardianship.
 
“The flu season is upon us, and to safeguard ourselves against the virus, we should wash our hands frequently, avoid touching our faces, stay home if we’re sick and get vaccinated.  I encourage everyone eligible to receive the flu shot before the winter months,” said Hamilton County Health Department Officer Dr. Stephen C. Miller.  “We thank La Paz for hosting us this year and their commitment to caring for our community.” 
 
Officials said, "Per the CDC, those at the highest risk of severe complications from the flu include children under five years, adults 65 years and over, pregnant women, and those with preexisting medical conditions or a compromised immune system.
