Chattanooga Boys Choir Holiday Concert "Season Of Light” Is Dec. 7

  • Wednesday, November 27, 2024

The Chattanooga Boys Choir Holiday Concert "Season of Light” will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, at 12 and 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 401 Gateway Ave.

Tickets are $10 general admission and $5 for children and students, available here.

The Chattanooga Boys Choir joins with members of the Chattanooga Youth Symphony and the Metropolitan Bells to present Season of Light, a program of holiday music that will inspire and enrich audiences of all ages this holiday season.

This year's program includes over 100 members of the Chattanooga Boys Choir and features a variety of traditional carols, new works, and contemporary favorites from a variety of traditions and influences. Shared by many cultural observances and family holiday celebrations, the presence of light will be celebrated by works including Hold Out Your Light (African-American spiritual, arr. Gibbs), One Little Candle (Snyder), One Light (Ramos), and Candlelight Carol (Rutter). The choir also commemorates the season with holiday music from the 1950's, commemorating the start of the CBC seventy years ago - favorites including Cool Yule, Silver Bells, It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, and more will be featured.

"It is a special privilege to celebrate the season with the entire community, where everyone will find both something familiar and a new 'favorite' after attending this program," said Vincent Oakes, CBC artistic director. "After hearing such a variety of music performed so expertly, the smile won't leave your face until well into the new year."
