Howard Looney, 87, passed away quietly in his home on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

He was born to Alonzo and Emmie Mae Looney in Iron City, Tennessee and grew up in East Chattanooga. A Christian by faith, Howard attended Terra Vista Baptist Church. Dancing, fishing, camping and playing spoons on his knees were his favorite hobbies. He was an avid craftsman and handyman. Playing with his grandchildren brought him the most joy.

He spent over 20 years as an operating engineer at TV, before retirement. As a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, he was an active member of Local 927. Howard and Annie enjoyed his retirement. They spent time together gardening and bird watching in their yard. He worked at BI LO on Highway 58, building many friendships in the Harrison community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Annie Mable; brothers, Charles and James; and son-in-law, Danny Penland.

He is survived by his son, Michael (Marina) Looney; daughter, Elizabeth Penland; sister, Peggy Riden; grandchildren, Tracy Bromley, Teresa (Jay) Mundal, Anna Rose Hillian, Melissa Looney and Samuel Looney; several nieces and nephews; and former daughter-in-law, Arcelie Casper.
