Michael Bernard Jones, Sr.
Michael Bernard Jones, Sr. "Chub Roc", 67, passed away on October 30, 2024, in a local hospital.
He was born on Aug. 12, 1957, to Gloria Harris-Moorer and Kenneth Jones Sr. Chub attended Brainerd High School. After high school, "Chub" enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served his country and received an honorable discharge. He was an avid lover of cooking/grilling which led him to open many restaurants around the Chattanooga area throughout the years.
"Chub" will always be remembered for the time he spent with his family and the loved he showed them. He enjoyed taking trips, playing games, listening to his music or just sitting out drinking a cold beer. He was exceptionally gifted with his hands, not only with his cooking, but also with construction and building.
"Chub" is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Jones, Sr; brother, Jeffrey Jones; nephew, Patrick Green; grandsons, Savon Jones, Jr., A'King Jones; great grandson, Vincent Burch and stepfather, Robert Moorer.
He leaves behind his memories to his mother, Gloria Moorer; wife, LaFonda Witcher; sons, Brandon Jones, Michael Jones, Jr., Savon Jones, Sr., and Orlando Jones; daughters, LaTasha Hart, Tia Fortson, Myonna Jones, and Arbranna Pollard; step-children, Eric and Adrian Hubbard , Everett and Evette Hicks, and Xavier Bickerstaff; one devoted sister, Patti Jones; brothers, Kenneth Jones Jr., Keith (Denise) Jones and Calvin Sparks; aunt, Barbara King; grandchildren, Victor II, Diamond, Veronica, Jaylyn, Jayshawn, Dakota, Destiny, Aleyah, Walter III, Adrian, Antonio, Nyla, Michael III, Malachi, Mikhail, Madison, August, Mason, Marlo, Mylasia, Myson, Million, Micah, Serenity, Jayceon, Trinitee, Cassidee, Kaylee, Khylee, Luna, Saint, Ka'varee, Santana, O'Shea, and Aspen; 9 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; special niece, Patrice Jones; devoted friends, Stephanie Dozier, Victor Jackson, Dathan Billingsley, Calvin Trimble, John Pointer and Joe Burney.
Public viewing will be held 9-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, followed by an 11:30 a.m. funeral service. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
