CHA Art Space, a modular exhibit space located in the ticketing area of the Chattanooga Airport, has unveiled its latest juried show, “Gather.” Curated by local artist Carrie Pendergrass, the installation features work from 23 local and regional artists. This marks the 12th installment of CHA Art Space since its debut in July 2021, and the second exhibition created through a collaboration with the Association for Visual Arts, a local nonprofit organization.
Officials said, "The exhibit explores the concept of 'gather' in its many interpretations.
As a verb, 'gather' refers to assembling people, accumulating items or collecting ideas. As a noun, it describes the puckered area of a garment drawn together. The works in the show reflect these varied meanings and capture moments of connection, collection and creativity through diverse artistic media and styles."
All artwork in the exhibit is available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the artists and the continued operation of CHA Art Space. By purchasing original art, buyers contribute to the local cultural ecosystem and economy while supporting future free public art exhibits.
Participating artists include Mandy Anders, Alex Birghenthal, Caleigh Bird, Woodson Carpenter, Jeffrey L. Cohen, Toby Darling, Beth Carroll, Tim Goldsmith, Randy Griffith, Lupina Poi Haney, Lisa Houser, Faye Ives, Janice Kennedy, Hao Luong, Ruth Pearl, Francisco Pedro, Susan Schweigard, Elizabeth Blair Stephenson, Bonnie Stoloff, Angie To, Melanie Mitchell Tucker and April Van Brunt.
“Gather” is on display now through March 2025. For more information, visit www.avarts.org/cha-art-space or follow @cha_art_space and @sewntothesea on Instagram. For inquiries about purchasing artwork, email cha.curator@gmail.com.
