It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Rachel Louise Smith, 66, on Friday, December 13, 2024. She passed away at home surrounded by her family and close friends.

She was a member of Christ Family Church. When she was given the diagnoses of cancer, she did not curse or condemn God. Instead, she praised his name and gave all glory to him. She used it to witness to people and proclaimed her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and praised his name to her last breath.

Louise was born on Oct. 28, 1958, in Chattanooga, Tennessee and was a lifelong resident of Soddy Daisy, Tn.

She is preceded by her father, JD Smith, brother, David E. Smith, sister, Phyllis Hindman, and niece, Amanda Roysdon.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Kenneth Smith; sons, Justin Smith (Jennifer), and Aaron Smith (Cassie); grandchildren (Roxy, Sepp, and Olin Smith) (Layna and Lynn Smith), step-grandchild (Ashley), mother, Nola Higgins, sister, Patricia Roysdon (Randall), aunts, several cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends and godparents of her sons, Butch and Sharon Taylor.

Her favorite pastime was playing with her grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends. She loved her church family and reading God’s word.

The family has a very special thank you to her niece, Stephanie Branan, for being a wonderful and tender caretaker. The team of doctors and nurses at Chattanooga Oncology, and the team of professionals at Hearth Hospice.
