BIG PIG BBQ Festival Set For May 11

  • Wednesday, February 14, 2024

AGC East Tennessee in conjunction with Building Leaders of Chattanooga announce the BIG PIG BBQ Festival, presented by Food City, is back and bigger than ever. This year’s event will be open to the public Saturday, May 11. BIG PIG, now in its fourth year, promises a day of mouthwatering barbecue, live entertainment, and family-friendly fun, all while supporting a great cause, said officials.

Organized as a fundraiser for the Construction Career Center, the BIG PIG BBQ Festival invites teams to showcase their grilling prowess in a friendly competition. Team registration is now open for those eager to put their barbecue skills to the test. Teams will kick off the festivities by firing up their grills at 7 p.m. on May 10, setting the stage for an epic barbecue showdown.

BIG PIG will open its doors to the public on May 11 from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m., offering attendees a chance to sample a variety of barbecue creations. The festival will feature live music and a beer garden for adult attendees to enjoy, while families can explore the touch-a-truck exhibit, games and other activities.

One of the highlights of the BIG PIG BBQ Festival is the BIG PIG Judging Panel Contest, where a panel of expert judges will crown the top barbecue team. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to cast their votes for the People's Choice Awards, ensuring that everyone has a say in recognizing their favorite barbecue dishes.

“BIG PIG offers a great opportunity to get involved in the community and support the Construction Career Center,” said Forrest Catron, BIG PIG committee chair. "It has been rewarding to contribute to the event's planning and witnessing the community's support and dedication firsthand. It's encouraging to see our community rallying behind the next generation of construction professionals.”

Proceeds from the BIG PIG BBQ Festival will directly benefit the construction career center, helping to fund training programs, scholarships, and essential resources for aspiring construction professionals.

Tickets for the BIG PIG BBQ Festival will be available for purchase online and at the door. Mark your calendars and join in a day filled with barbecue and community spirit on May 11 at the First Horizon Pavilion.
