Robert F. "Bob" Hopper passed away on February 18, 2024.

He was born on Sept. 22, 1926. Bob served in the Navy during World War Il and the Korean conflict. He was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Bob began his career in Life Insurance with the Volunteer State Life immediately following his college graduation, and served as home office executive, Georgia manager and agent with their Chattanooga agency. Following that, Bob served as general agent with Interstate Life for six years, until he formed Profit Plans, Inc. in 1963 with Seth Sizer and Newton Douglas. In 1997, he merged with Doug BeVille Ill to form Profit Plans, LLC.

Long active in civic affairs, Bob organized the first Toastmasters club in Chattanooga in 1955, and later, as area governor, helped start two more clubs. He was past president of the Family Service Agency, Goodwill Industries, the Chattanooga Chapter of the Better Business Bureau, Young Republicans Club, the Estate Planning Council and the UC Alumni Association. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga for 49 years, and as president in 1988-89 helped to raise more than $600,000 to fund a new building for the Northside Neighborhood House. Bob was an active member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian. In the past he served as a deacon at Rivermont Presbyterian, and a deacon and chairman of deacons at First Presbyterian Church. Bob was a past president of both the Chattanooga and Tennessee Association of Life Underwriters. His professional designations included the Chartered Life Underwriter and Certified Financial Consultant degrees. Bob was a proud member of the Million Dollar Round Table for more than 40 years, and was inaugurated into the Tennessee Insurance Hall of Fame in 2002.

Survivors include his eight children: Kathy (Bill) Bishop, Debi McGregor, Susie (Rick) Thompson, Bob, Jr., Betsy Whitaker, John (Loretta) Hopper, Jeanne (Pete) Solock, and Tim (Karen) Hopper, 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Mary, parents, Frank and Pearl Hopper and grandson, Matt Hopper.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the excellent loving care Bob received during his time at Alexian Village.

Visitation will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 9 a.m. until funeral service time at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
