Inez Cecile Pickett Millwood, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
She was born and raised on Signal Mountain, on her family farm. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she started singing gospel music at the age of eight years old. Mrs. Millwood loved to sing gospel music and she loved to hunt, fish, and attend antique car shows with her late husband of 55 years, Alvin "Sonny" Millwood, Jr. She was retired from Olan Mills after 40 plus years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Daniel Lloyd Pickett and Violet Cecile Grayson Pickett; husband, Alvin "Sonny" Millwood, Jr.; brother, Warner Ernest "Sonny" Pickett.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Tundalayia) Millwood; daughter, Karen Millwood Knight; grandchildren, Dawon (Kelsey) Millwood, Dylan (Madison) Millwood, Cayla Knight and Bradley Knight along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Bro. Rocky Bradford and Bro. T.A. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sawyer Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday, from 12-1 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dylan Millwood, Bradley Knight, Steven Millwood, David Millwood, Tommy Johnson and Andrew Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marvin Millwood, Garry Hall, Joseph Johnson, Dickie Hall and Bro. Don Ferguson.
