Over 40 vendors will again gather their local history for the community to enjoy on Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Soddy, Daisy and Montlake Historical Association History Fair. The event will be held at the Soddy-Daisy High School in the Commons area.

It will include at least three rows of tables, each having around 22 tables full of history.

Adults over 18 are requested to make a $5 donation and students age 8-17 a $3 donation. Those younger than eight get in free to the History Fair.

Genealogy, coal mining relics, Civil War relics, local American Indian artifacts, antique bottles from the area and just lots of regional history will be on display.

Tracy Knauss, “The Photo Doctor” will be in attendance. Those with issues with an old photo, torn, discolored, and blurry or any other problem with a photo, “The Photo Doctor” can eliminate the problem.

Sam Hall, the 2021 Tennessee Historical Merit Award winner, will have his chattanoogahistory.com website running to show the many photos of not only Chattanooga but throughout Hamilton County.  Many of Mr. Hall's photos are from glass negatives. Stefanie Haire with the picnooga.com website will also be there with photos from across the county.

Other locals whose interest is Chattanooga history and two groups with Rhea County History are also coming.

The Soddy, Daisy & Montlake Historical Association is proud of the local history and want to show it to everyone who will come and spend some of their day with them.  If you have an interest in the local history of Soddy, Daisy, or the mountain communities of Mowbray, Montlake and Flattop, their unique history will all be included.

Those with items of interest are encouraged to bring them to the fair and there will be people who might be able to assist in determining what the item could be. Those with old photos from the area are asked to bring them and there will be a printer on site to copy any photo. Curtis Cecil and Kelly Flemings with the Soddy Daisy Library will be there to make these copies of historical photos or documents for the museum. The Historical Association opened a museum in the old Soddy Bank building in July of 2017 and organizers strive to display new photos as they are brought in.

Organizers will make changes in the museum following the History Fair and it will reopen on April 5-6, or sooner.
