New Sustainable Learning Alliance Holds Public Forum

  • Friday, May 23, 2025

The public is invited to a forum at Red Bank Elementary School on May 27 from 1-3 pm to hear from community partners regarding existing programs and available sites for outdoor, project-based learning across Hamilton County Schools. The goal is to expand nature-based learning opportunities for the 2025-2026 school year. Those attending will be able to share ideas and resources and explore meaningful ways to collaborate in shaping the future of education in the county.  A tour of Red Bank Elementary School’s existing program will follow.

“This Sustainable Learning Alliance is rooted in Forest School philosophies and strengthened by community partnerships,” said Jessica Culberson, an Alliance organizer.  “Sustainable learning from nature with real-world experiences can lead students to future-ready career pathways,” she adds.

This effort is supported by the Citizens Climate Action Community Engagement Task Force that is working to implement the goals of the Chattanooga Climate Action Plan.
