Linda Johnson Uren, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away on February 3. 2024.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Christy Lee Uren, her mother and father Elberta Weese Johnson and Arthur B. Johnson, her brothers Benny Johnson and Don Johnson, and by her sisters Patsy Doyle and Martha Johnson.

She was a loving and caring wife and mother. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 59 years, David E. Uren, special niece Sheri Doyle, and several other nieces and nephews.

She shared her husband's love for the great outdoors. They enjoyed many family camping experiences and many scenic trips to the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina. She traveled throughout America, on ocean cruises, and on foreign vacations. She also accompanied her husband on some of his international business trips. She especially enjoyed spending time at their log cabin second home built on a lake close to the Smoky Mountains.

She was a 1962 graduate of Soddy Daisy High School where she was salutatorian of her graduating class. She attended the University of Chattanooga and Chattanooga State Community College. She was a talented pianist and organist and taught piano lessons. She played the piano at most of her high school functions for all four years while she was attending Soddy Daisy High School. She played for countless weddings as well as for chorale groups while in college.

She worked as a secretary at Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company before becoming a mother and homemaker. She had served as a volunteer mentor with the Chattanooga Area Literacy Movement and was an active member of local chapters of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

She was a member of Burks United Methodist Church and worshiped a living Savior. She had been an active member in all the churches she attended over the years. She enjoyed participating in small groups Bible studies and church outreach activities In her earlier years she played the piano in working with children's choirs.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Amy Nutt, and Rev. Jim Evans officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class at Burks UMC will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Rev. Alan Stewart officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Helping Hands Fund of Burks United Methodist Church, 6433 Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tn. 37343 or to a charity of your choice.
