Pamela Adrian Gocher Brown, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at her residence.

She was born on March 7, 1943, in Detroit, Mi., the only child of Snobia (Toby) Lesteen Gocher and Robert Cecil Johnson. From the age of nine months, Pamela was raised by her grandparents, Annie and Frederick Gocher in Ooltewah. Although affectionately called by her nickname “Pam”, she always introduced herself by her full name preferring to be called “Pamela”. She graduated in 1961 from Booker T. Washington High School where she was a majorette, member of the chorus, and member of the track and basketball teams. After graduation from high school, Pamela moved to Detroit for a couple of years before returning to live in Chattanooga.

A fantastic cook, Pamela spent most of her career in the culinary field as a dietary technician before retiring from a local nursing home after 35 years of service. Pamela was a faithful member of Greater Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church (Rev. Alexander J. Bullard) where she was a member of the choir and head of the culinary group.

Pamela is survived by her aunt with whom she was raised as a sister, Wilma Gocher Elsberry; ex-husband/best friend, Lee Daniel Brown; stepson, Lebron Lackey; sister, Cynthia Johnson Israel; brother, Robert Cecil Johnson, Jr.; uncle, Morris Johnson; close first cousins, Wanda Gocher-Johnson, Angela Hicks, Tommy Johnson, and Neva Stinson; nieces, nephews and other cousins. Pamela will be missed by her family, church family and friends.

Pamela will lie in state on Saturday, March 23, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Sunday, March 24, at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Ooltewah Cemetery.
