The St. Andrew's-Sewanee Middle School Girls Volleyball team played at home vs Swiss Memorial. Swiss Memorial jumped out in front of the Mountain Lions in the conference volleyball standings with a 3-1 win and a sweep of both regular season matches.
The SAS girls won the first game 25-19, but Swiss captured the next two games by the same score of 25-21. They pulled away in the fourth game 25-15.
SAS coach Shannon Blosser said that the team played hard but acknowledged Swiss was impressive.
"Swiss played hard and they did this while missing a key player. We have work to do, but I like the progression of the girls so far. Especially since we are coming off of a week of spring break."
SAS had impressive efforts from Maggie Mayo with 2 kills, Adeline Pond and Leah Moody had 3 and 1 aces respectively. Eighth grader Lyrah Spake had 1 kill and 2 aces. Aubrey Blosser had 2 aces, 1 kill and 15 assists. Savannah Blosser had an impressive 17 assists in the match.
SAS's next match is away at Tracy City on April 2.
