The Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team is headed to Georgia’s Lake Country for the Southern Conference Championships. The event returns to the Oconee Course at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Resort for the 3-day, 54-hole affair.
Six Mocs are in the sprinter with Garrett Engle, John Houk, Samuel Espinosa, Paul Conroy and Braedon Wear joined by alternate Dalton Chuba. The squad is working cross country this week after competing Monday-Wednesday at the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, Calif.
The starting five is unchanged from last year’s runner-up finish.
"The hope, as a coach, is that we peak when it matters...at the conference and beyond in the postseason," Coach Blaine Woodruff said.
"We're not far off. We have a great group of guys who work really hard and are completely bought in to what we're doing.
"We've had plenty of highs this season as well as learning experiences. That combo continues to push us forward. We're looking forward to competing and seeing what happens this week."
It’s another strong field with three teams – Chattanooga, ETSU and UNCG – in the top 50 in the country.
