Melanie Welch Wright
It is with great sadness that the family of Melanie Welch Wright announces her passing. She passed away May 21, 2024, at the age of 63, after a brief illness.
Melanie loved to travel and share her pictures with her family and friends. She picked up the lost art of “tatting” from her grandmothers. She was an accomplished pianist. Melanie will leave a huge void in the lives of her family and friends. We love you, Melanie.
Melanie was a 1978 graduate of Soddy Daisy High School. She played in the school band. In 1985, she received a B.S. degree in biology. Melanie was a member of Sale Creek Church of God. Melanie recently retired from United States Postal Service after 20 years.
Melanie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Betty Settles Welch; and her father and mother-in-law, Clifton and Annabell Wright.
Melanie is survived by her husband of 20 years, Charlie Wayne Wright; sister, Janet L. Welch; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis (Joy F.) Welch; brother and sister-in-law, James (Lisa) Merrell; and beloved niece, Rose of Reliance, Tn.
The visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 23 between the hours of 4-8 p.m. The service will be held on Friday, May 24 at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with Bishop Terry Bolten officiating. The burial service will immediately follow at Coleman Cemetery.
