Master Gardener And Had A Real Love Of Animals

Kay Chalmers White, 79, of Apison passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, Ms. White spent most of life in Texas before moving to Apison in 2013.

She was a graduate of St. Thomas University where she received her bachelor's in nursing and the University of Texas where she received her master's.

She was of the Baptist faith and had a real love of animals - particularly German Shepherds. She was a master gardener and was honored for her award winning roses. She held memberships with the Garden Girls Garden Club, Crestwood Garden Club and the Rose Society of Chattanooga.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorimer Lindsey Chalmers and Frances Phillips Chalmers.

She is survived by her daughter, Erin Murphy (Robert) Holt, Athens, Tn.; son, Darin Murphy, Houston, Tx.; sister, Ann Miller, Farmington, Va.; six grandchildren, Addison, Aidan, Kaela, Morgan, Seth, and Ashley; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Ramsey.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 11:30 a.m. at the Don Eaves Heritage House, 1428 Jenkins Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.

The family will receive friends form 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, at the Heritage House, 1428 Jenkins Road.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
